i'm slowly going mad staying at home with baby c!!!!!!! he's now 7 months and he needs so much more stimulation. he bores very easily now. there's only so much stories and nursery rhymes that he will listen to. after that it's "hey! other form of entertainment please!". i even carry him and we dance around (which he really loves). so...the solution? we're buying a car for me to zip around town with him in tow. can you imagine? it takes baby c to get me driving again! hahaha..... can't wait for the car to get my sanity back!
i signed baby c up for gymboree classes. he had his first playgym class last saturday. and guess what? he cried throughout the whole session! i must admit here that it was my fault. i got the time wrong and we had to rush like mad to get there on the dot. we made it but it didn't give him time to settle in. what more, he was on the verge of falling asleep when we arrived. sleepiness and being forced to play = disaster. i know that it is not because that he's afraid of strangers because he's a social butterfly. all smiles and charms for everyone, whether he knows you or not. and yesterday he started to "liu" girls! he'd look at the girl, smile, look away, turn back, the girl is not looking at him anymore, he'd shriek and smile whilst looking at the girl until the girl acknowledges him, then repeat the whole cycle again. boy, isn't he starting young? well, i've learnt my lesson. i have the right time now and we'll be arriving early for his next class.
i have successfully weaned baby c off milk during the day (after consulting with his paediatrician). he only takes solids during the day now. he eats healthy too. breakfast is cereals, lunch is meat, tea is either yogurt or fruit and dinner is vegies. he definitely eats healthier than his parents! he still takes milk before bed because it's a routine for him already. and he still wakes at about 10ish or 11ish for a round of milk and then at bout 5ish, he takes another bottle. bear in mind he goes to bed at 630pm and sleeps til 7am. he even goes to bed on his own now. we leave him lying in his cot and he'll roll for a while then he nods off. (he's really growing up huh?). best part? we didn't have to teach him to sleep on his own. all done on his own time. and to think i used to play keep up with the joneses (still do sometimes now. hard habit to break) by comparing him with other babies. i used to wonder why had he not reached a particular milestone while the other babies had. i used to fret and worry bout his milestones a lot. then i found his current paediatrician (fantastic man), talked to him and found out that because baby c is a big baby, so he weighs a lot more, and hence it takes slightly longer for him to do stuff like hold his head up, roll over, etc.
all in all, he's grown by leaps and bounds. he's so different now that it's difficult to believe he's the same baby that needed to be carried and rocked to sleep and who woke all through the night. sigh..........one thing's for sure, he's full of surprises. :)

baby c turned 6 months old on the first day of cny. and boy oh boy has he grown! it's like he took a turn and he's a big boy now.
we brought him back to kuantan during the first week of cny. i must admit, i was a bit worried about travelling with him. i mean the journey takes 2 1/2 hours and we would be stuck in the car all the way through. but i decided to take the plunge anyway and brought him for his first holiday. i was also mentally prepared to make as many stops as baby c needed. i told myself, it's a holiday and we should not rush. well, i'm proud to say that to and fro, we took a break each way. baby c needed to feed. so we stopped at the highway rest stops and fed him. here's a surprising thing that i found out: the rest stops has baby changing rooms! well, i guess somebody finally got something right!
anyway, two weeks before we left, i stopped sterilising his stuff. i wanted his tummy to get used to it first. i wasn't going to bring his steriliser along! and i postpone solids til we got back home. i didn't want him to get a reaction or fall ill and we'd be in kuantan.
well....kuantan.......it was hectic!!!! it was non-stop visits to relatives (to basically show baby c off! hahaha). it as mad. but baby c really enjoyed himself. he enjoyed the new sights, places and people. but most of all, i am very happy that my grandma, baby c's great-grandma got to see him and spend time with him. i must say, the trip was really worth it.
the second week of cny, was when c went from being a baby to a boy (well, in my books anyway). he started solids and i tell you he just sits there with his mouth open all the time. i can't feed him fast enough! you hear of having to teach babies how to eat solids and to swallow. baby c NEVER wastes anything. whatever that goes into his mouth, stays in! my boy was born to eat!
next, i put him on cloth diapers and it's a breeze. of course i'm changing him every hour but it's better for his bum. i'm glad i waited until now to start him on cloth diapers. since starting solids, his poop is firmer and harder, which makes it a breeze cleaning and changing him.
then, he decided that he does not want nor need me to carry and rock him to sleep anymore. (i'm quite glad with this change, although a bit sad too). he turns onto his side, holds froggy and nods off.
sigh...........so many changes........and all at the same time too................my baby's growing up...........
on the bright side, since he's such a big boy now and he travels well, we have lined up a number of holidays all within the coming months. and i can't wait!
