another "gem" i heard yesterday: don't drink 'liong fun' aka cincau while preggers. if you do, whenever the baby cries, the tears will be black in colour. (kinda brings to mind maya from heroes!). any other "gems" like these out there?

since i've been spending quite a lot of time in the loo, i've reignited my passion for reading. hehehehe........ i've been reading ferociously for the past month. in fact i've finished off six books in one month. i have this habit of stocking up during mph's warehouse sale and i kinda slipped on the reading front after my last bout of stocking up, which was sometime last year. so i am currently going through my collection and refusing to buy new books until i am done with the stack at home.

i have suddenly been hit with the "spring cleaning before chinese new year" bug. i know some of you find this weird but i find it very therapeutic to pack away or even give away stuff. i simply love turning the home upside down, inside out and making space (for new stuff perhaps? hahahaha). anyway i'm in paradise now cleaning our home. lalalalalala..................

so chinese new year is once again round the corner, which means ang pow giving time. aaarrghhhhh!!!!! sigh......i miss the good old times when i used to receive ang pows. well, i guess this comes with the territory of being married. one way to beat this is by doing what everyone says - have a kid so that one can at least get some moo-lah in return!

sigh.........another sign that i'm getting on with age and becoming more ah sum like: i am really excited about going to country farm organics warehouse sale tomorrow. there have been so many warehouse sales going on (which i never attended); eg zara, gap, etc and yet this is the one that gets me excited. well, what can i say? i am who i am.

friends are still surprised by the fact that i go to bed at 10. why?! i must admit that nowadays i sometimes go to bed as early as 9!!! i'm just so tired.
here's the truth: i do not get a full night's sleep at all. this has been going on for sometime now. i wake up numerous times throughout the night to drink water coz the air is so dry because of the air-conditioner. then i have to wake up to go pee throughout the night. and when i do wake up, it takes me like 15 minutes or so to fall asleep. so you see now? why i'm so tired and why i'm in bed by 10! (i simply can not sleep without the air-conditioner because it's so hot!) to top it all off, i wake up everyday by 7 (latest).
so i hope this explains once and for all why i go to bed so early : )

what kind of sick society do we live in today??!!!!
b & i were at gardens yesterday having lunch when all of a sudden there was shouting. just as quickly, a crowd had gathered. since b had finished his meal, i sent him to check it out (i know, i'm quite a busybody too). apparently a little child (according to b, the child looked no more than 2 years old AND still sucking on his pacifier!) had his leg caught in the bottom of the escalator. the child was not even crying. my heart sank when i heard this. i could not finish my lunch. all i could do was start praying that the child would be alright. in fact, even as i'm writing this, it still bothers me, even though when we left i refused to be one of the "spectators" and hence I didn't see the child.
now, why did i call our society sick? apparently there were loads of people taking pictures AND videoing the whole thing as the child laid there! can you believe it?! it makes my blood boil! do these people think of the feelings and trauma this child and his parents are going through? this was NOT a game or sport! this was an emergency AND involving a child no less!
i guess it takes all kinds to make up a society huh? i really pray and hope that the child is fine.
